Accredited with three 3 caps for the
Lions and 36 for England, Duckham’s ability in attack
to open up the most miserly of defenses earned him 10 tries
for his country and the record of six tries in one game against
West Coast / Buller during the 1971 Lions tour of Australia
and New Zealand.
His unmistakable blond mane draped behind
him, ‘Dai’ (as the Welsh christened him) Duckham’s
counter-attacking often left marauding defenses chasing shadows
with his guile and speed. Born and educated in Coventry he
is the archetypal Englishman and one of the world’s
finest players.
